The core list of essential medicines is based on common opportunistic infections and requests from other HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs. SCMS supplies drugs that meet quality standards for GMP and safety requirements, and that are efficacious. An approved process by USAID is required before SCMS can purchase using US Government funds.
The medicines listed in the catalog are not registered in all (PEPFAR focus) countries. Identifying a vendor will require time to take into account local registration and importation requirements. We will try to obtain the product which is both compliant with our quality requirements as well as with your country’s importation requirements.

We would like to refer you to the GDF project under PFSCM for large orders of TB medicines and to PMI for large orders of ACT medicines. SCMS is only in the position to supply small quantities of these products.
