The program-specific section of the catalog provides lists of commonly used products for the following program areas: blood safety, early infant diagnosis (EID), food products (FP), and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT). If you do not see the a product you need, please contact us regarding your requirements.

Early Infant Diagnosis

The Overview of All SCMS Core Formulary Lists Catalog provides a comprehensive list of equipment, supplies and consumables required for EID programs. This list was developed at the International Laboratory Branch of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in collaboration with SCMS. Although quite comprehensive, this list is by no means exhaustive. Additional products may be required, depending on the needs of the EID facility. As always, refer to the SCMS ID Number to help speed the processing of your order.

Male Circumcision

PEPFAR will be scaling up HIV/AIDS prevention in the next five years, and male circumcision (MC) will be a key prevention strategy. SCMS has participated in the PEPFAR MC technical working group’s (TWG) efforts to standardize commodities for male circumcision, agreeing to three pre-made kits that programs can choose from. Having standardized kits available will reduce the cost of commodities and save time in selecting products. Items in the pre-made kits can not be substituted.

The MC TWG published a report that provides a wealth of information on the subject, lists all commodities contained in each kit as well as other commodities that are needed in theatres of operations. The Overview of All SCMS Core Formulary Lists Catalog provides complete information on how to order Reusable Kits and Disposable Kits as well as required supplemental modules.

Please note that due to the complexity of this project, some aspects of MC logistics are still evolving. Please contact Sameer Sakallah, Senior Technical Laboratory Advisor if you have any questions about procuring MC products.

Blood Safety

The Overview of All SCMS Core Formulary Lists Catalog provides a list which includes products that are used in phlebotomy (blood drawing) area of clinics and in blood banks. In some cases we have included multiple choices for individual items. As always, refer to the SCMS ID Number to help speed the processing of your order.

Specialized Food Products

The Overview of All SCMS Core Formulary Lists Catalog includes a specialized food product list which supports requests for commodities required in food-by-prescription programs. The list currently includes ready-to-use therapeutic foods (RUTF) and fortified blended flour (FBF). In addition to these specialized food products, food-by-prescription programs may require non-food products such as mid- and upper-arm circumference (MUAC) tapes, infant scales (Salter scales, 25 kg), weighing pants, adult scales (not bathroom scales), height boards/meters, weight-for-height/BMI tables and water purification commodities. These items are not currently listed in the catalog, but they are available. If you have product requirements in this area, please contact us for immediate assistance.

Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT)

The Overview of All SCMS Core Formulary Lists Catalog includes a PMTCT list developed in collaboration with the CDC, of products that are typically needed for a PMTCT program. Although quite comprehensive, this list is not exhaustive. Additional products may be required, depending on the needs of the PMTCT facility. As always, refer to the SCMS ID Number to help speed the processing of your order.

An HBC kit contains usually essential products such as painkillers, gloves and bandages. We can offer a standardized kit through our approved vendors, or we can work together to customize the kits to your desire. Note that SCMS will determine if the pharmaceutical product on this list meets the regulatory and/or importation requirements of the country of importation/consumption.
