PipeLine 5.0

PipeLine Version 5.0 makes entering forecast data even easier and faster than previous versions. New fields and reports allow you to describe and display details of shipments and consumption of health commodities for virtually any type of product. PipeLine has been used with products in reproductive health, essential medicines, anti-retroviral testing and treatment, malaria testing and treatment, lab supplies, and tuberculosis treatment programs. For each medicine or health product in a program, PipeLine helps track the rate at which commodities are used, what has been ordered but not yet received, total quantity available at all storage facilities and health care facilities. total amount of losses (due to expiry and damage) or transfers, time required for the product to arrive after it is ordered. Laboratory Harmonization 

International meeting launches laboratory harmonization and releases guidelines. In late January 2008, 130 experts and policy makers from 31 countries, including Cambodia, Haiti, Vietnam and 28 Sub-Saharan African countries, gathered for three days in Maputo, Mozambique for the Consensus Meeting on Clinical Laboratory Testing Harmonization and Standardization. New Procurement & Supply Management (PSM) Toolbox website

The World Heath Organization/AIDS Medicines and Diagnostics Service and its partner organizations initiated the development of a unique PSM Toolbox website for HIV-related health commodities. The PSM Toolbox website features a user-friendly search engine, regularly updated content, a forum to share tool use experiences and more. In addition, an offline version of the PSM Toolbox is available on CD-ROM free of charge.


Guide on Reporting Problems to the FDA

Consumers play an important public health role by reporting to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) any adverse events (unexpected side effects) after using a medical product, or other problems with any products that the agency regulates. Timely reporting allows the agency to take prompt action. There are a number of ways you can report problems to the agency, depending on the type of problem and product. AIDSTAR-One website

The AIDSTAR-One website includes 33 national treatment guidelines from 28 countries including guidelines on Adult, Adolescent, and Pediatric ART, PMTCT, Adherence and Retention, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PreP), Community Based Treatment and others. The guidelines are updated quarterly and include a synopsis and summary table of each country's treatment guideline. Funders Concerned About AIDS report - "U.S. Philanthropic Support to Address HIV/AIDS in 2008" (November 2009).

FCAA’s new resource tracking report provides new information on 2008 HIV/AIDS grantmaking among 345 U.S.-based private philanthropic institutions. This year’s report includes a list of the top 72 funders who disbursed $300,000 (U.S.) or more to HIV/AIDS in 2008, as well as analysis of funds by geographical region and by intended use, the top three main population groups to which their funding was directed, and grantmaker forecasts for funding increases or decreases in 2009. Clearinghouse on Male Circumcision for HIV Prevention,

A global resource center on male circumcision research, program implementation, documentation, and information. This portal provides a growing number of tools for policy makers and program implementers and those involved in designing and executing programs that offer male circumcision as an HIV risk-reduction strategy for heterosexual men.
