PEPFAR Implementers’ Meeting in Kampala, Uganda June 3-7, 2008

   


The PEPFAR Implementers’ Meeting featured five abstracts produced by SCMS for its 2008 meeting. The HIV/AIDS Implementers’ Meeting took place June 3-7, 2008, in Kampala, Uganda.


This year’s theme is "Scaling Up Through Partnerships: Overcoming Obstacles to Implementation." The meeting theme recognizes the rapid expansion of HIV/AIDS programs worldwide. At the meeting, implementers exchanged best practices and lessons learned during the implementation of HIV/AIDS programs, with a focus on building the capacity of local prevention, treatment, and care programs; maintaining quality control; and coordination among partners.

 

The following abstract titles were accepted for oral presentations:        
         
  • Mozambique: “Embedding Demand Forecasting in Collaborative Efforts to Increase Access to ART: How Mozambique Did It” (presenting author: David Jamieson)      
  • Mozambique: “All for One - One for All: Coordinated Procurement Makes Safety Stock Safe” (presenting author: Joao Texeira)      
  • Rwanda: “Distribution of Drugs and Commodities to Rwandan Health Districts Gets Boost From Improved Warehouse Management Operations” (presenting author: Ambassador Zephyr Mutanguha, CAMERWA)      
  • Cote d’Ivoire: “Back to the Future: Paper-based System Helps Improve Forecasting of ART Data in Cote d’Ivoire” (presenting author: Moise Touhon)    
   

Poster Presentation:
The PMO abstract “Managing Performance to Achieve Scale-Up: Going beyond Traditional Monitoring and Evaluation to Strengthen Systems” (presenting author: Phillip Savio) was selected as a poster presentation.

 

Collaborative Efforts:

The SCMS office in Vietnam has had two abstracts accepted to the PEPFAR Implementers’ Conference, written collaboratively with other organizations in country.
