Collaboration among host-country governments, international donors, nongovernmental organizations, manufacturers and other stakeholders is critical to ensuring that quality medicines reach the people with HIV/AIDS who need them.
Ordering Products Through SCMS
SCMS procures for US government-supported HIV/AIDS projects and similar projects funded by organizations such as The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. We provide a full range of medicines and products necessary for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs.
We work to achieve the lowest possible cost for the products we buy by leveraging purchase volumes across many recipients, negotiating long-term contracts with our suppliers, and buying generic antiretrovirals (ARVs) and other pharmaceuticals whenever possible. Our online e-catalog lists available products, as well as price estimates for many items. Learn more about procuring commodities through SCMS by accessing our Frequently Asked Questions. Learn more by visiting the Procurement section.
Working With Vendors
Establishing long-term relationships with vendors is an important part of our supply chain strategy. ARVs, rapid test kits and many frequently requested commodities can be procured, whenever possible, under indefinite quantity contracts (IQCs). We have developed an FAQ for vendors to learn about opportunities to work with us. Learn more by visiting the Vendor section.
We support organizations as they strengthen their supply chain capacities. This support may include transfer of knowledge and skills through training in forecasting and supply planning, procurement, quality assurance, freight forwarding, inventory management, warehousing, distribution, and logistics management information systems. We can provide both short- and long-term assistance. Learn more by visiting the System Strengthening section.
We cannot achieve our mission alone. With the unprecedented scale-up of HIV/AIDS care and treatment, new partnerships and collaborations are required across industries and geographical boundaries. Efforts are underway to facilitate collaboration, share lessons learned and put best practices into action.. Learn more by visiting the the Global Partnerships section.
