Collaboration among host-country governments, international donors, nongovernmental organizations, manufacturers and other stakeholders is critical to ensuring that quality medicines reach the people with HIV/AIDS who need them.

Ordering Products Through SCMS

We work to achieve the lowest possible cost for the products we buy by leveraging purchase volumes across many recipients, negotiating long-term contracts with our suppliers, and buying generic antiretroviral and other pharmaceuticals whenever possible.

We provide a full range of medicines and products necessary for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs. Our online e-catalog provides a list of products available, and price estimates for many items. Learn more about procuring commodities through SCMS by accessing our Frequently Asked Questions.

Contact us if your organization is interested in procuring items through SCMS. A representative will respond to your request to determine how SCMS can best meet your needs.

The key questions we will ask include:

  • What are the products you require?
  • What are the quantities?
  • Is funding available and what is the source of such funding?
  • When are the products required, and what is the level of urgency of your requirement?

"A Note on Market Conditions"
Like other global industries, airlines are facing soaring fuel prices and lower profits. Due to the higher fuel costs and lower passenger traffic, airlines are grounding fuel-inefficient aircraft. In turn, available cargo space on flights is decreasing, and prices for air freight are increasing. SCMS is monitoring the situation closely and working with clients to plan shipments as far in advance as possible. We are redirecting shipments to sea or road freight when doing so reduces costs without sacrificing timeliness of delivery. Please bear in mind that, particularly in this volatile market, forecasting and demand planning will enable us all to reduce the cost of commodities and shipping.

Technical Assistance

We support organizations as they strengthen their supply chain capacities. This support may include transfer of knowledge and skills through training in quantification and forecasting, procurement, quality assurance, freight forwarding, inventory management, distribution planning, and logistics management information systems. Both short- and long-term assistance can be provided. Contact us for more information about how SCMS can support your efforts to achieve more efficiency, reliability and security in your supply chains. To learn more about our technical assistance services, visit the Technical Assistance section.

Global Partnerships

We can not achieve our mission alone. With the unprecedented scale-up of HIV/AIDS care and treatment, new partnerships and collaborations across industries and geographical boundaries are required. Efforts are underway to facilitate collaboration, share lessons learned and put best practices into action. Contact us for more information. To learn more about our global partnerships, visit the Global Partnerships section.

Working With Vendors

Establishing long-term relations with vendors is an important component of our supply chain strategy. Antiretrovirals, rapid test kits, and many frequently requested commodities can be procured, whenever possible, under indefinite quantity contracts (IQCs). Our e-catalog provides a list of products that SCMS currently supplies. Please monitor SCMS Request for Proposals for contract opportunities if your company offers one of the items on our e-catalog, or similar products that may be used in HIV/AIDS programs. You may also contact us to provide details of your products and discuss opportunities to work together. Our procurement process adheres to US Federal Acquisition Regulation.
